Christian Aid at St Andrew’s and St George’s West – the story so far

Since it started in 1974 the Sale has raised over £2m for Christian Aid’s work to end poverty. For nearly 50 years over 500 volunteer helpers from Edinburgh and beyond have worked  together to create the biggest fundraising event in the UK for Christian Aid.

Pre COVID the Sale was held annually in Christian Aid Week in May when thousands of churches and individuals throughout the UK devote the week to fundraising for Christian Aid to tackle poverty, and the causes of poverty, throughout the world. We also hold an Autumn Art Sale with Scottish Books.

In 2020 lockdown restrictions cancelled the annual May sale at St Andrew’s and St George’s West but a brief window of easing allowed the autumn Art Sale to go ahead with appropriate hygiene and social distancing measures. In 2021 a mini-sale of jigsaws, toys and games and popular paperbacks is planned in May. Find details here
